Les Newman, M.D., FAAAAI, FACAAI

Dr. Les Newman is a native of Louisiana. He graduated summa cum laude from
Louisiana State University with a degree in Biochemistry in 1984. Dr. Newman graduated with honors in 1988 from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, then went on to residency training in Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, followed by advanced specialty training in Allergy/Immunology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville. He established the Allergy and Asthma Center in Murfreesboro in 1994. Dr. Newman is Board Certified in Allergy-Immunology and is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology, and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology.
Csaba Rusznak, M.D., Ph.D., FAAAAI, FACAAI

Dr. Rusznak is originally from Hungary, and graduated from medical school in 1985 with highest honors. He completed pulmonary and cardiology training in Hungary, then moved to the United Kingdom in 1991 to continue his academic career. In London he was engaged in research, teaching and patient care at the Academic Center of St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He extensively researched the role of air pollutants and the airway epithelium in allergic and non-allergic airway diseases. He obtained his PhD in Medicine in 1994, PhD in Science in 1999, and his Doctor of Science degree in 2001. He has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 9 chapters in books, and over 100 other publications. From 1998 to 1999, he was the Medical and Scientific Director of the British Allergy Foundation. In July 1999 he moved to the U.S. and joined the Department of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University, where he completed both his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology, and where he now holds an adjunct faculty position. Dr. Rusznak is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Allergy-Immunology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology.
Martha Butterfield, M.D., FACAAI

Dr. Martha Butterfield grew up as a farm girl in rural Illinois southwest of Chicago where she enjoyed the simple pleasures of growing up in a farming community with her mom, dad, three older brothers, and twin sister, Mary. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, IL and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biology in 1983. She attended Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed her MD degree in 1987. After completing internal medicine residency in 1990, she practiced internal medicine at Vanderbilt University for three years before pursuing further specialty training. She completed allergy and immunology fellowship training at Vanderbilt University in 1995. Dr. Butterfield has been practicing allergy in middle Tennessee since 1995 and is Board Certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She founded Brentwood Allergy & Asthma, PC in 1999 and joined the Allergy & Asthma Center, P.C. in January 2014. She is a fellow of the American College of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology and member of the American Academy of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology. Outside of her practice, Dr. Butterfield enjoys reading, listening to a wide variety of music, biking, hiking outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
E. Kathryn Miller, M.D., M.P.H., FAAAAI, FACAAI
Board Certified - Allergy & Immunology
Dr. Kathryn Miller joined our practice in August 2015. She graduated from Abilene Christian University in Texas with a BS in Biology and from medical school at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center System. She completed a pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University, followed by fellowship training in adult and pediatric Allergy & Immunology at Vanderbilt. During her fellowship, she graduated with a Master in Public Health degree. Dr. Miller has been on faculty at Vanderbilt in Pediatric Allergy & Immunology since 2007, where she has enjoyed a career in clinical allergy as well as research in the area of viruses and asthma. She has received the Housestaff Clinical Teaching Award and the Five Star Excellence Award for patient care. Dr. Miller has maintained Board Certification in Pediatrics as well as Allergy-Immunology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology, and the American Academy of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology. Outside of the office, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Matt Miller, and their four children. They love being active and being outdoors.
Russell Walker, M.D., FAAAAI, FACAAI
Board Certified - Allergy & Immunology
Dr. Rusty Walker joined the Allergy & Asthma Center in January 2020. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he majored in biology and zoology. He attended the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in Memphis and completed his medical degree in 1991. He completed residency at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California, where he trained in Pediatrics. Dr. Walker completed Allergy-Asthma-Immunology fellowship training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He served for two years as a staff physician, practicing allergy and immunology for Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi prior to beginning private practice in Chattanooga in 2000. Dr. Walker is Board Certified in Allergy-Immunology and is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology and the American College of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology.
Tennille Block, MSN, RN, FNP
Board Certified - Nurse Practitioner
Tennille joined our practice in January 2023. Originally from South Africa, Tennille moved to Canada at a young age, then to the Nashville area where she grew up. She attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville for undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees. While studying for her masters degree, Tennille also practiced as a registered nurse at East Tennessee Children's Hospital for three years. She is certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2018. After graduating with her masters, Tennille worked with an Allergy and Asthma practice in Knoxville for four years before moving back to the middle Tennessee area. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and has attended American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology conferences. Outside of work Tennille loves spending time with her family and dog. They enjoy spending time outside and getting together with friends. She welcomed her first child to the family in January 2022.
